Complete plumbing and medical gas systems (ISO 7396-1) for a new rehabilitation ward, including BREEAM commissioning and handover.
The rehabilitation ward at Landspítali's Grensás site called for medical gas systems to ISO 7396-1 and BREEAM handover. Rennsli delivered the complete plumbing and medical gas systems as a subcontractor to Ístak, with a focus on safety, traceability and certified handover.
From challenge to certified handover
The challenge
The work took place in a hospital in full operation, where the medical gas systems had to comply with ISO 7396-1. Medical gas, carrying oxygen and medical air, must meet the standard, and the project's BREEAM certification requires commissioning and handover to be fully documented and traceable.
Approach and delivery
Rennsli installed and tested the medical gas systems to ISO 7396-1 alongside domestic water, drainage, heating and cooling systems, sprinkler systems and compressed air, working closely with the main contractor and site supervision, with pressure testing and the safe handling of medical air.
Handover and traceability
Handover was accompanied by complete test records, declarations of conformity and BREEAM commissioning documentation (Man 04), so that the systems were ready for inspection with full traceability from the first pipe run to final testing.
